2011 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

The Kamloops Broncos 2010 team had the most success a Junior Football team in Kamloops has ever had. We won 3 of 10, and were close in 3 more. Having just missed the playoffs by a touchdown, the entire organization has been rejuvenated and looking forward to making the playoffs in 2011. This past year also saw four individual players (three of who were local high school products) achieve British Columbia Football Conference All-stars. Jacob Bigham (Norkam Secondary - Offensive Line), Mark Gratton (Calgary – Linebacker) were both BCFC All-stars, while Alex Adams (Valleyview Secondary - Defensive Line) and Mitch Day (South Kamloops – Linebacker) were named BCFC All-stars as well as Canadian Football Conference All-stars. This was the first time Broncos players were recognized on a National level! Mitch Day was also named top linebacker in the BCFC.

With four seasons under our belt, much progress has been achieved. Our mandate to rebuild the culture of football in Kamloops has gained huge momentum with the fourth season of minor football allowing kids ages 7-14 able to play in the newly developed minor system. Within five years this newly developed source of talent should be entering the 17-22 year-old age demographic, and should help us to compete using local talent.

The Kamloops Broncos are a viable stepping stone to local athletes who now have an option to stay in town to further their football career after high school, whether they remain here and play five seasons in our program, or move on to university or college programs after a year or two. Many of our out of town athletes now call Kamloops home, having moved here to work or attend Thompson Rivers University.   We would like to wish Ryan Williams and Alex Adams as they move on to play in the CIS with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and the Ottawa Gee Gee’s respectively!

Football’s reach has grown immensely in Kamloops, and we could not have done it without the help of all our wonderful sponsors.  Please help in thanking our sponsors by patronizing their businesses.   We would also like to thank the Kamloops Blazers Sports Foundation for their grant in the amount of $17, 200 which enabled us to purchase brand new helmets for this season!
