2012 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT  

The Kamloops Broncos had a tough season in 2011. Although we felt we had moved forward in talent and numbers, our improved team was unable to achieve the high hopes the coaching and management staff had. We may have only had two wins, but the foundation has been laid down for a promising future in what was considered a rebuilding year. After graduating three conference all-stars and eight starting players, as well as losing one starter to CIS and another 2 to serious injuries, the coaching staff did a great job reconstructing the squad through recruiting. Of our 65 players on our final roster 21 were in their first year of eligibility, and 18 were in their second.

We are continuing with our purpose of giving local athletes a chance to compete on a nationally recognized stage in football, after their high school careers are finished. Although we are bringing in players from out of the Kamloops are to supplement our team, the core of our team is made up of Kamloops natives. Over 66% of our team is made up of athletes from Kamloops and the surrounding areas (Kelowna, Vernon, Prince George, Vanderhoof, and Salmon Arm) with only 34% coming from out of the province which is the second best ratio in the British Columbia Football Conference. One third of our team consists of local high school players.

Our team is in need of funding to help continue to grow football in the city of Kamloops. Our players are required to pay $500 for team fees which go towards insurance, travel, and equipment costs. The only assistance given to our players is the Draft-A-Bronco program where we help the players find a local business like yourself to sponsor them in covering these fees. In addition, due to the generous sponsorship from Morfco, we were able to give three scholarships this season to deserving players who were playing football and attending a full course load. We are looking to increase our scholarship program as we have found Thompson Rivers University is a valuable recruiting tool.

We are not in this for the glory of winning national titles; we are in this for the advancement of the athletes. In five years we have helped eight players from our program move on to the CIS level, and we currently have seven of our current players being scouted by CIS or US junior colleges for the upcoming season. Without junior football these players may have never made it to the next level.

We offer families in Kamloops an affordable and entertaining event which appeals to all ages. With an average of 800 fans attending our games, we offer a great way to introduce your company and brand to each and every one of them! Your sponsorship dollars enable us to give young men between the ages of 17 and 22 an opportunity to play junior football. The Kamloops Broncos are a viable stepping stone to local athletes who now have an option to stay in town to further their football career after high school, whether they remain here and play five seasons in our program, or move on to university or college programs after a year or two. Many of our out of town athletes now call Kamloops home, having moved here to work or attend Thompson Rivers University.
